Jason ran second in his heat race prior to winning the A-Main by defeating Benji Lee, Joe Gray, Randy Turpin, and Johnny Lee. A night earlier, the #7 team was in action at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky. JUNE 16, 2008 :: Following a weekend off from racing action, Jason Wheatley and his #7 Open Wheel Modified team jumped back into competition on Saturday night, June 14 at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky. Jason ran second in his heat race to earn a starting spot towards the front of the A-Main. During the course of the main event at the central Kentucky speedplant, the Loretto, Kentucky driver wheeled his #7 entry to yet another runner-up performance. The second place effort to winner Benji Lee marked the third straight race that Wheatley has chased Lee to the checkers. JUNE 1, 2008 :: The Wheatley Racing team closed out their version of the month of May with one lone event on Friday, May 30 at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky. Jason Wheatley, who has earned a plethora of Top Five finishes early in the season, nearly missed his first feature victory of '08 on Friday at the "Pond." Jason qualified well and won the dash to earn the pole position for the A-Main. The Loretto, Kentucky driver then wound up an impressive runner-up to winner Benji Lee in the Open Wheel Modified main event. MAY 26, 2008 :: Jason Wheatley and his #7 Open Wheel Modified team notched two more Top Five finishes over the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend! On Friday night, May 23, the Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modified Series held a $1,500 to win show at the legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky. Jason won his heat race and later ran a strong fifth in the A-Main. The exciting, dirt-slinging action then switched to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 24 for a regular weekly show. Jason once again took the victory in heat race action prior to finishing a strong runner-up to winner Benji Lee in the main event.
